A disruptive innovation is one that introduces change to an industry and how that industry operates. Every new technology has the capacity to be disruptive. The questions we as a community, state, and region have to ask are, how will we respond to that technology, and how will we use it to revitalize the region to make it a safe, prosperous, culturally rich place to raise a family, have a business, and secure our future! The Fort Berthold Comprehensive Regional Transportation Plan is the Three Affiliated Tribes’ first community-based and leadership-driven effort to think and act strategically about the role of transportation infrastructure in the community’s future success and quality of life. When finalized, this plan will also change how the community operates—increasing connectivity, health, safety, and access to mobility and economic development. Topics that will be addressed at the Summit impact a wide range of issues, including the environment, the economy, workforce development, health, safety, and quality of life. What all of these topics have in common is the need for strategic planning so that we as a community and region can proactively pursue the enormous opportunities these advances in technology will offer.
